Simone Weil was a highly educated, highly intellectual French philosopher and Christian. She died at age 34 in 1943 but before she passed she said some pretty profound things. Among them is her feeling regarding intellectual pride:

“The intelligent man who is proud of his intelligence is like the condemned man who is proud of his large cell.”
